Community Spotlight: Oyster City Brewing

The people of Apalachicola, Florida, deserve good beer, and Oyster City Brewing is here to bring it to them. With a passion for beer and an even bigger passion for community, the Oyster City Brewing team wakes up every morning with two things on their mind: damn good beer and making the people of Apalachicola proud.
Humble Beginnings

Oyster City Brewing began when patrons at a local taproom kept asking, “What’s your local beer?” Determined to answer that question, the founders of Oyster Brewing sampled hundreds of pints of beer from the region and decided to try to make their own.
With a homebrew station set up in a backyard, the trial-and-error process began, and research continued through reading books and talking to brewers. The community then gathered, sampling brews, providing feedback, and offering encouragement. It wasn’t long until they transformed a small dive bar into a brewery with a mission: to improve their beer with every batch.
The result? A wide selection of some of the best beer in the area–and the community has never been more excited.
All About the Beer
Crafted with care and passion that you can taste, the Oyster City Brewing menu is full of local favorites. Whether you’re a seasoned beer drinker or trying to find your favorite pint, they have the brew for you.
Though they experiment with flavors and profiles often, their lineup of flagship beers is here to stay:
- Hooter Brown: Brown ale lovers, rejoice. This award-winning, robust ale is crafted with local Tupelo honey harvested right at Owl Creek and boasts notes of chocolate malt.
- Mangrove: Perfect for summer (or any time, really), this pale ale features flavors of mango and is made with local ingredients.
- Apalach IPA: With an impressive 80 IBU, IPA enthusiasts will find solace with this hoppy, caramely IPA.
- Mill Pond Dirty: Pair this easy-drinking blonde ale with oysters, and you’ll see just why this beer won the Gold Medal in the 2020 US Open Beer Championship.
- Tastes Helles: Pronounced “hell-us”, this German-style lager is made with NZ Pacifica hops with hints of orange marmalade!
The Brewery

Though the flagship beers are what put Oyster City Brewing on the map, that’s not all they have up their sleeves. You can taste their latest rotating and seasonal beers on tap in their brewery, a place that you won’t want to leave.
Some of their recent inventions include:
