What’s the finance process like at this Honda store?

Most buyers choose the car first and meet the finance questions last, in a small office, with the car already picked. That order hands the pressure to the wrong moment.

Flip it. Settle the trade value and the pre-approval before you pick a car, read the numbers on one specific Honda, and treat every add-on as its own yes or no. Here is how that runs at our Panama City store, in the order you live it.

Keep reading below, then schedule a test drive in Panama City. Bringing your own numbers to the lot settles this faster than any spec sheet.

Value your trade online before you choose a Honda

Your trade is the biggest piece of your down payment, so know its value before you shop. We value trades online, and that value applies toward the purchase. The number you bring in is then a fact you checked at home.

It matters because many trades carry a loan. Edmunds found that 28.2% of trade-ins in July 2025 involved negative equity, with buyers owing an average of $6,902 above the vehicle’s value (Edmunds, 2025). A buyer who learns that figure at the desk has to fold it into the new loan on the spot.

Run the valuation first, and you know what you own, what you owe, and what you are bringing. London R. described how it felt on the other side. In a July 2026 Google review, London R. wrote: “Matthew with Group One Honda made the best offer and gave me a very fair bid for my trade-in.”

Get pre-approved before you walk onto the lot

Apply for financing online before you visit. A pre-approval tells you what you can finance before you fall for a trim level. It also turns the finance step from a surprise into a follow-through.

Most buyers will go through it anyway. More than 80% of new-car buyers financed their purchase in Q3 2025, compared with roughly 35% of used-car buyers (Experian, 2025). Financing is the normal path for a new Honda, so it deserves the same homework as the car.

Our online application is the first stop. You apply, you see what you are approved for, and you finish the rest in store or online. Ask the lender for the list of documents it wants when you apply, so nothing is missing on signing day.

Know these finance terms before the numbers arrive

Six terms cover almost everything a finance conversation uses. Learn them once and the paperwork reads like plain English.

Term What it means in plain words
Pre-approval A lender’s early answer on how much you can borrow, given before you pick a vehicle
Out-the-door price The vehicle price plus taxes, title, registration, and dealer fees
APR The yearly cost of the loan, shown as a percentage
Loan term The number of months you take to pay the loan back
Amount financed The money you borrow after your down payment and trade value come off
Negative equity The part of your trade-in loan that is higher than the car’s value

Read four numbers on one specific Honda

Price, rate, term, and amount financed all describe a single vehicle. A quote on “a CR-V” is not a quote. Ask to see all four on the exact unit you want, because a low payment can hide a long term or a large amount financed.

Payments are where buyers get stretched. A record 19.3% of consumers who financed a new vehicle in Q2 2025 committed to a monthly payment of $1,000 or more (Edmunds, 2025). That is why the four numbers belong together instead of the payment standing alone.

Number What to ask for on that vehicle
Price The out-the-door figure with every fee listed
Rate The APR on that exact loan
Term The months, and the total paid over them
Amount financed The loan after your trade and down payment

Florida adds its own lines to that price. The state charges 6% sales tax, and the county surtax applies to the first $5,000 of the price only (Florida Department of Revenue, 2026). Bay County’s surtax is 1%, so for a Bay County resident it adds at most $50.

Dealer fees need the same attention. Florida sets no cap on the dealer documentary fee, but the advertised price must include every fee the customer must pay (Florida Statutes s. 501.976, 2026). Ask for the fee as a line item and check that it sits inside the price you were shown.

A first-time Florida registration carries a one-time $225 fee, and a plate you transfer from another vehicle avoids it (Florida Statutes s. 320.072, 2026). If you already hold a Florida plate, ask what moving it saves you.

Decide whether you are buying or leasing before you compare payments

A loan and a lease produce different payments for different reasons, so settle which one you want first. A loan builds ownership. A lease keeps the payment tied to the time you drive the car. Comparing a loan payment to a lease payment tells you very little.

Customers do lease here. In a July 2026 Google review, Jennie R. wrote: “He’s straightforward, honest, and answered every question I had without making me feel rushed.” She leased a CR-V. Her note is a fair standard for any finance conversation, whichever way you go.

Whichever you pick, the four-number test applies. Get the terms on the exact vehicle, in writing, before you sign anything.

Treat every add-on in the finance office as a separate yes or no

An add-on is a product you can say no to, and it should be priced on its own line. Ask what each one costs, what it covers, and what your monthly payment becomes with and without it. Take your time with each answer.

Do this one at a time. Bundled together, add-ons blur into a single payment figure, and you lose track of what you agreed to. Decline any you did not come in for, and the contract should reflect it before you sign.

Florida’s rules back this up. The law requires a dealer’s predelivery service line to carry a printed statement that the charge represents costs and profit to the dealer (Florida Statutes s. 501.976, 2026). If a charge is not explained on the page, ask until it is.

Brett M. described the result of a deal that worked this way. In an April 2026 Google review, Brett M. wrote: “They did what they said and kept to the deal, no games, no gimmicks, no pressure.”

Finish in store on 15th Street or buy new online with delivery

Once the trade and pre-approval are done, you choose how to finish. You can come to our East 15th Street store and sign there, or buy a new Honda online through AcceleRide and have it delivered. Both paths start from the same online work.

Buyers want that choice. In Cox Automotive’s 2025 Car Buyer Journey Study, 63% said blending online and in-dealership steps is the ideal way to buy, against 28% who preferred all online (Cox Automotive, 2026). Most still finished every step at the dealership, and 7% bought fully online.

If you want this Do this
See and drive the Honda first Get pre-approved online, then finish at 3601 E 15th St
A new Honda without a trip to the store Buy it online through AcceleRide and take delivery
A clear number for your current car Value your trade online and bring it with you

You are in the right place on 15th Street. Panama City has one Honda franchise, formerly Honda of Bay County, and it is the same store under a new name.

Pick the car last

The car should be the last decision in a Honda purchase. Trade value, pre-approval, and four numbers on one vehicle come first, and every add-on gets its own answer after that. A buyer who works in that order walks into the finance office already knowing what the contract should say.

Our job is to keep that order clear, then keep helping once the keys are in your hand. That is what the next section covers.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get pre-approved for Honda financing online before I visit?

Yes. You can apply for financing online and see what you are approved for before you come in. Then you choose the vehicle and finish in store or online.

How does my trade-in affect what I finance?

Your trade-in value comes off the amount you borrow. We value trades online, and that value applies toward the purchase. If you still owe on the trade, that balance matters too, so ask for both numbers.

Can I finance a used or certified pre-owned Honda here?

Yes. We sell new, used, and certified pre-owned Honda vehicles and handle financing on site. Ask for price and terms on the exact vehicle you want.

Can I lease a Honda at this store?

Yes. Jennie R. leased a CR-V here, as she wrote in her July 2026 Google review. Ask for lease terms on the specific vehicle, the same way you would for a loan.

Can I buy a Honda entirely online?

You can buy a new Honda online through AcceleRide and have it delivered. For a used or certified pre-owned Honda, shop and apply online, then finish in store.

What should I bring to the finance office?

Ask the lender for its document list when you apply, since requirements depend on your application. Having the list in hand before signing day keeps the visit short.

Where is the store, and what was it called before?

We are at 3601 E 15th St, Panama City, FL 32404, and we were formerly Honda of Bay County. It is one store with one finance team under a new name.
