When Should I Get My Honda Serviced?
Keep Your Honda Running Like New
Honda’s are legendary vehicles, known for their reliability, their VTEC performance, and their efficiency. However, all of these components rely on timely maintenance to ensure that the various components of your vehicle can perform the way they’re intended to. Another important facet to maintaining the reliability, performance and dependability of your vehicle are the qualified hands that perform these maintenance intervals.
Independent mechanics can do more harm than good with their generic replacement parts and low quality replacement fluids. Here at Honda of Bay County, we not only feature a team of ASE certified technicians who not only know your vehicle from bumper to bumper, but our techs use genuine Honda replacement parts to ensure that your vehicle performs like new no matter how old it is.
Maintenance is Key
One of the most important services that you can perform on your vehicle throughout its lifetime is the oil change. If your engine is the heart of your vehicle, then its oil is definitely its blood. Your oil is pumped around the hundreds of moving parts inside your engine, removing heat, reducing friction, and removing contaminants. Over time, your oil begins to lose its efficacy and it’ll need to be changed out. However, not just any oil will do; different engines require different types of oil. There are three main types of oil:
Conventional – this type of oil is fracked from the earth and refined before being placed in your engine. Providing adequate protection, this type of oil needs to be changed every 3,000 – 5,000 miles.
Synthetic Blend – this type of oil usually consists of a synthetic base with synthetic additives. These additives may be designed to address the concerns of aging motors such as oil leaks, and carbon deposits. Synthetic oil does offer a longer life than conventional, typically only needing to be changed every 5,000-7,500 miles.
Full Synthetic – full synthetic oil is made of natural or synthetic compounds and engineered to provide maximum protection for your engine. Protecting your engine from breakdown, while reducing friction and heat, this type of oil generally needs to be changed every 7,500-10,000 miles.
Check your owners manual to see your recommended oil change intervals, and discover what other Honda maintenance services your vehicle will need throughout its lifetime.
